Custom or standard: choosing what fits your job

Electrical panels come in two broad types. Standard panels are built in repeatable designs and suit common jobs like small pump starters or basic distribution. Custom panels are engineered from scratch for a particular machine or plant. Knowing which you need can save both time and money.

Standard panels are quicker and cheaper because the design work is already done. If your requirement matches one of our regular designs, we will tell you so instead of pushing you toward something more elaborate. Many small jobs fall into this category.

Custom panels make sense when the process is unusual, the space is tight, or several functions must work together. Here we start with a clean sheet, produce drawings for your approval and build to that. It takes longer, but the result fits the task closely.

Key Highlights

Standard designs

Faster and more economical for common jobs.

Custom engineering

Built from scratch for unusual machines and spaces.

Quality materials

Proper gauge sheet metal, busbars and branded components.

Help with specification

We turn sketches into a proper quotation.

Whichever route you take, materials matter. We use proper gauge sheet metal, quality busbars and components from established brands. The panel you receive should still be working well long after the warranty has passed.

Send us a rough sketch or even a list of what you want to run. We will help you turn it into a proper specification and quote, and explain each item along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need a custom panel?

If your job is unusual, the space is tight, or many functions must work together, custom is the better choice. Otherwise a standard design may do.

Can you help if I only have a rough idea?

Yes. Share a sketch or a list of loads and we will help you build a specification.
